Toilet Installation & Repair

From replacing a worn-out toilet for a more modern and efficient model to fixing a leaky tank or a clogged drain, Amalgamated Services Plumbers are up for the job!

While toilets are generally robust fixtures, a few common repairs can keep them functioning smoothly and efficiently. Here are some frequent toilet troubles:

  • Running Toilet: This is a constant trickle or refill sound coming from the tank. It’s often caused by a faulty flapper valve (the seal at the bottom of the tank) that isn’t properly blocking the flush valve opening.

  • Clogged Toilet: This is a plumbing nightmare! Clogged toilets are frequently caused by excessive toilet paper use, feminine hygiene products, or foreign objects being flushed. A plunger is usually the first line of defense for simple clogs. However, stubborn clogs might require a plumbing snake, a long cable that we use to break up and remove blockages within the drain.

  • Leaking Toilet: A common cause of leaking is a worn-out wax ring, the seal between the toilet base and the drain flange. Replacing the wax ring is crucial to prevent leaks and potential water damage.

  • Weak Flush: If your toilet struggles to completely flush waste, it could be due to a low water level in the tank. Adjusting the fill valve or float mechanism (the device that controls the water level) can often address this issue. In some cases, clogged siphon jets (the rim holes in the toilet bowl) might be hindering a forceful flush. Cleaning these jets can restore proper flushing power.
  • Noisy Toilet: Unusual noises during flushing can indicate various problems. A hissing sound might point to a worn-out fill valve, while grinding noises could be caused by a loose flapper valve or a problem with the toilet fill valve assembly. We can diagnose the issue and recommend repairs or replacements to quieten your noisy toilet.

By addressing these common repairs promptly, you can keep your toilet functioning efficiently, avoid water waste, and prevent potential water damage in your bathroom. If you’re unsure about the cause of a toilet problem, it’s always best to consult us for proper diagnosis and repair.
